Cox Ortho is a long established business which provides clinical orthotic services and products such as bespoke footwear, insoles, spinal jackets, neurological ankle and foot orthoses (AFO’s) to a number of NHS Trusts and hospitals across the South East, including key London teaching hospitals.
Cox Ortho was an operating division of Alfred Cox (Holdings) Ltd, a company originated in 1860, when it was acquired by Halo Healthcare Ltd in September 2007 and is now managed as a division of the Mobilis Healthcare Group.
Clinical expertise and product quality
With a clinic, workshop and administration centre in Whitechapel, Cox is well placed to service the needs of hospitals in and around London. The clinic also has the facility to offer private orthotic consultations during working hours. Over the years, the company has developed an enviable reputation for clinical expertise and product quality and now provides Halo with an important presence in the heart of the capital.
The Whitechapel facility, affectionately known as “108” after the number of the building in Whitechapel Road, together with Cox’s factory in Brampton, near Carlisle, where insoles and bespoke footwear are made, harmonize Halo’s manufacturing capacity and the synergy between Brampton’s shoemaking and our own County Orthopaedic footwear manufacture has provided significant benefit to the Group.
The acquisition of Cox doubles the number of highly trained and experienced state registered Orthotists who are now employed by Halo to provide clinical services within the NHS Trusts and increases the company’s number of skilled technicians and administrators by twenty.
Together, the businesses have the clinical, technological, managerial, financial resources and the gravitas to pursue new NHS contracts in an increasingly challenging market.
